OnTarget v1.10 Frequently Asked Questions:

When will the next version of OnTarget be ready?

The new version of the OnTarget Precision Calculator has been released for sale. Version 2.10 comes with a 15 day free trial after which time a permanent license may be purchased for $14.99. The freeware version of OnTarget will continue to be available for download.

Which operating systems will OnTarget work with?

OnTarget has been tested in Windows 2000, XP sp1 and sp2, Vista, and Windows 7. Contact the webmaster if you are interested in running OnTarget under Linux. We are currently working to create an installation package containing OnTarget v1.10 that will run on a Mac with an Intel processor. Check back for avaialability.

Why does OnTarget tell me to get a new version when I try to open a file?

The most common cause of this error is trying to use the File/Open command to open a graphics file. File/Open should only be used to open existing .tgx files created using OnTarget. Use File/Open Image or File/Insert Image From File to open the picture of your target. When you try to use the File/Open to open an image OnTarget doesn't recognize the file type so recommends that you get a newer version. Future versions of OnTarget will do a second check for the supported graphic file types and import the image file.

My distance and/or bullet hole size is not listed. What should I do?

If your target distance or bullet size are not listed in the drop down, scroll to the top of the list, select the top item, "(yards)" or "(inches)", and type in the value. Distance values should be entered in yards (33, 105.0, 500, etc...) and bullet sizes in inches (.224, .308, etc...). The size and distance will initialize to the new value for all new groups until changed.

How do I print from OnTarget?

At this time OnTarget does not have printing capabilities. If you need to print a target project we recommend that you save the project as a graphic using either the "File/Save Project As Graphic..." or "File/Save View As Graphic..." menu items. The resulting file can be opened in a graphics program, such as Photoshop or Corel, or imported into a Word document and then printed. OnTarget v2.10 will print out the target along with several other new features.

Is it possible to change OnTarget to display metric values?

At this time OnTarget does not have a setting for displaying metric measurements. We are planning to add the metric display option for release in the Fall of 2010.

What is the cost for OnTarget v1.10?

OnTarget v1.10 has been released as freeware. Freeware products are provided free of charge and may be used as many times as you like, for as long as you like. We encourage you to recommend OnTarget to others who would benefit from its use. Check the License and How To Buy sections of the help file for more information.
